This was my first visit to a Five Guys, so I am unable to say whether the following experience speaks to this franchise only or the Five Guys chain in general. I had been told before going that Five Guys is supposed to be on par with In 'n Out (alas, In 'n Out has yet to make its way to CO), that the two are competitors. Having heartily enjoyed a stop at the latter on a recent trip through California, I decided to see for myself how FG matches up. Upon entering, the first thing I noticed was that Five Guys is very proud of its potatoes. Proud enough, in fact, to delineate the waiting line with a short wall of stacked red and white potato sacks. As I walked past I placed my hand on one of the sacks, and sure enough felt a real, whole potato. The poor thing had no way of foretelling its coming dismemberment. After walking the length of the potato wall, I made my way to the ordering counter, behind which I could see the food prep area manned/womanned by what looked to be a five-member team. As I raised my gaze to the menu, my heart skipped a beat. Five-plus dollars for a hamburger? (Warning: I am no aspiring spendthrift). Some In 'n Out competitor this is, I thought, as I entertained thoughts of retracing my steps back to the front door. But my sinking heart was saved by the energetic register operator, who told me that FG's regular burgers feature two patties, and that all add-on toppings come at no additional cost. This sufficed to keep me from leaving, and I proceeded to request that nearly all of the no-cost add-ons be placed upon my patties. Out of sympathy for the likes of my wall potato acquaintance, but mostly innate aversion to spending an additional 2.75 (plus tax) and the cashier's comment that "It's really big enough for at least two people," I decided to forgo the regular sized fries. With water cup and an unusually long receipt in hand, I took a seat and waited for someone to yell, "Order thirty-three" - completely missing the big box of free peanuts next to the fancy, new touch screen Coca-Cola dispensers. After what felt like a slightly longer than usual wait for fast food, I heard my order called. I grabbed my brown paper bag, a handful of free peanuts, and sat down eager to get to business. From the slightly greasy paper bag I extracted my rather large, almost spherical, aluminum foil wrapped burger. 90% of the lingering disquietude at having spent five-ish dollars for a hamburger ceased. After removing my glasses and the burger's foil, I brought mouth to hands and opened wide. I proceeded to mash between my teeth a combination of beef, bread, and toppings that rated somewhere between passable and enjoyable. The patties were drier than I prefer (probably because they were rather loosely formed). The mix of toppings stoutly supported the meat with moisture and flavor, and despite an uphill battle, it proved largely successful. Stopping only once or twice for water, I finished my meal within the customary fast food "Well, that takes care of that" span of time. Looking back on the experience, I cannot say I regret the time or money spent at Five Guys for lunch today. But I must admit that any future burger cravings will probably not instill an eagerness to return to this new red and white fixture in the Castle Rock culinary landscape. Instead, I will probably drive a little farther down the road to Good Times, where I can supplement my meal with a scoop of sumptuous frozen custard. Or maybe I will find myself thinking only about the affordable heaven that is In 'n Out, and start planning another road trip to California (or Arizona, Nevada, Texas, or Utah).

This place, of the three times I've visited, has been a little dirty. Just tables needing wiped down etc. But it was afte rush hours int heir defense. The food was as good as Five Guys usually is, and a little bit more than you'd pay for fast food. I have to be ina certain mood to want the grease and fries.

Hit 5 Guys just after the lunch rush. During lunch or dinner, you pretty much have to donate a kidney to find a damn parking spot. Kind of like the Griswolds in European vacation when they get stuck in that round-about. It doesn't help this location is surrounded by other fine dining/snacking establishments, but I digress. Did I mention the current cluster of construction? Moving on. Other reviewers are right, order a regular burger and you will have to pull a Costanza under your desk at some point in the afternoon. I have never found the burgers to be dry or too greasy, always just the way I like them. Yes, you get a bag of fries, which amounts to about an extra order. They are cooked in peanut oil and might seem just a bit greasy, but they have an amazing taste. Everyone has always been nice and friendly, the eating area is clean, and so are the bathrooms. Speaking of kidneys, their food is not cheap. Ordered two regular burgers, medium and large fries, and two sodas - $29.43.

A greasy delight. I came for a meaty, flavorful double bacon burger and since I also had a hankering for a large amount of starchy, carby fries I thought, eh...why not? Well hallelujah - I got what I was wanting. The burger was a mess, but in all the best ways: layers of meat and cheese and bacon with all the condiments from the list on the menu (well, truthfully it was only the top half....there were lots more I could've added below but decided that might be a bit excessive, even for me.). The fries were plentiful, hot and potatoey....just what I was looking for. Definitely not a healthy meal, but when you have a craving for a sinfully good cheat meal this place hits the spot.

I'd usually give 5 Guys 5 stars, but this one falls short. Management should look into this location in my opinion. Two orders after us we're called n ready before us. I ordered a cheeseburger, but got a bacon burger. We ordered lg fries and didn't get as much as we usually do. And something about my burger was just off and not as good as usual. It seems like the bunch of staff just stand around not working hard enough. I think the manager of this location isn't upholding the company standard.

Stopped in here on a recent trip to Denver. I have rated the 5 Guys in CO Springs 5 stars, these guys need some work. The location was clean, the wait staff polite and quick. After that the experience rapidly goes downhill. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger with jalapenos. For $13 I got 2 patties fried into hockey pucks and the jalapenos were so flavorless that I checked to see if they had even been added. For 1/2 the price I could have stopped in any fast food joint and gotten an equally mediocre burger. Won't be back and encourage others to do the same.

Second time in this place reminded me of the comparison with Smash Burger I made on my first visit; Smash Burger is MUCH better. This outlet was busy, with lots of signs and laminated articles touting great ratings, but the burger was 'gloppy'. Globs of condiments on a very unremarkable piece of beef, with liquid cheese sauce all on a soggy bun mashed in a foil/paper wrapper. The most unappetizing burger in memory, with a double dose of indigestion to remind me how bad it was long after I ate it. Two strikes - Five Guys is out.

I love five guys! Basically it's a better version of In-N-Out. Yeah, whatever die hard In-N-Out people, drive out of state to one, fine by me. That way there are less people in line for Five Guys when I go get a proper burger. Word from the wise, the little burger is probably all you need. The regular comes with two patties and will give you a serious case of the food comas. Remember that and the fact that the French fries come in a lunch bag because there are just so freaking many of them that no cup could possibly hold them all, and you will be fine. This is the best fast food burger around. Here is how it works. You tell the casher what you want (you want a burger) and if you want cheese/bacon on it (yes you do). Then you select the toppings. I get something different every time but it usually involves A1. I mean, if it can turn your rubber steak into something eatable why not put it on any meat you can? Go crazy there is no extra charge. Lastly you check your belt to make sure it can handle the extra strain and order fries and a drink. The soda comes from the super coke machine with the hundred million flavors. Since you are an adult you get a diet coke, no reason to be a glutton, and wait for them to call your order. OH I AMLOST FORGOT! They have peanuts in the shell for you to snack on while you wait. Free food while you wait for the food you just bought, this place is after my own heart.

The burgers are good but they aren't spectacular. Pros: The people behind the counter are always friendly and the food is out very quickly. I do like that the one in Castle Rock has outside seating. Cons: The tables are always dirty. For 4 regular sodas, 2 large fries (which was more than enough for the 4 of us), little bacon cheeseburgers for me and my two boys, and a regular bacon cheeseburger, the bill came to about $46. We have eaten at Red Robin for about the same price but gotten bottomless fries, better food, clean tables, and wait service. It is just way overpriced for fast food burgers that aren't even the best around.

To feed my family of 5 its cheaper to go to a nice restaurant than 5 guy's. But the burgers are still good overall.

Five Guys are everywhere on the East Coast and moving out here 2 years ago I found Smash Burger to be the big chain out here so I haven't had the pleasure of enjoying Five Guys since moving. When I was in Castle Rock for some much needed Outlet shopping I was feeling like a burger and was in between Crave and Five Guys. Keep in mind I've been to Crave and loved it. I haven't been to Five Guys in over two years and was feeling nostalgic. I want to experience Crave with a group of Yelpers and make it a destination, Five Guys is still a satisfying burger so I decided to opt for Five Guys. I love knowing where my potato's came from, that's a fun Five Guy thang. This visit they were from West Virginia, interesting. I usually go for a Little Cheese Burger (one pattie) with 5-6 toppings of my choice and a side of Cajun fries. Completely satisfying, more fries than humanly possible to consume in one sitting and a soda from the crazy coke machine that provides 10,000 flavor combinations. Consistent burger and fries with good counter service and ability to eat peanuts while you wait.

Not a bad place to pick up a pretty good hamburger.the atmosphere is what I expected and very upbeat. However, their prices are pretty high for just hamburgers, and fries. The only issue I had at this place is that it does become pretty busy and seating can become an issue, but if you're willing to go through the line, and fight for seating this is not a pretty bad place to eat.

I love the burgers! ...wish they would get rid of the peanuts! My hubby and kids are allergic to them and cant come in or even eat anything made there...bummer

The burgers were dry, the atmosphere is very loud. The french fries were really good.

Expensive but absolutely delicious. The fries remind me of homemade fries as a child.

Second best fast food place in castle rock. Food is good, staff is friendly. I recommend!

Burgers are good and pricey. Fries golden brown, mostly brown...although I would prefer more golden, price matches the portion size. If you are not a high schooler, you can not finish all the fries. Food is super fresh and hot. Grease is free.

They guy who runs this place is a jerk. Ordered online and showed up on time. Sat there for 45 min. Just us in the place and one lone bag on the counter. We kept trying to pick it up and they said it wasn't ours. Finally decided 30 min later it WAS ours. They remade it and gave us soggy burgers and undercooked fries. Complained and was told "Ridiculous you would be upset over a burger!" Uh..that's my dinner moron..and I paid 20.00 for that disgusting LATE slop. Avoid at all costs. Called corporate to complain only to find out the manager straight up LIED about events. He needs to be fired. Stat.

Five Guys is my only "fast-food" burger stop. The Castle Rock store has been open since May and is often very busy. The service is good - for a fast food joint, better than any other fast food restaurant in the area with exception of the local Chick-fil-a (Chick-fil-a sets the standard for quality fast food service). As you walk in the door you're likely to hear them yell out the number of people in your party - "2 in the door". Your burgers are made fresh to order, so yes it will take about 10 minutes from the time you walk in the front door, so "fast food" is somewhat debatable. However, the burgers fresh, hot, and tasty. Burgers, fries, and hotdogs - no shakes. Ordering is a little different, but I like it since I don't want ketchup or mayonnaise on my burger. Burgers come in three basic styles: Hamburger, Cheeseburger, and Bacon Cheeseburger, all of which are double patty burgers. If you want a single patty just say "Little" first, as in "Little Cheeseburger". After that, specify the items you want on the burger, all at no extra cost. The jalapeños are excellent because they are fresh, not canned. That goes for all the toppings. The quality and flavor of the beef is very good, and so are the fries. For those who want to stay away from the evil (but delicious) fries, they offer free unlimited peanuts while you wait for your order. If you do order fries, they are plentiful so a small order is probably plenty for two people. Out back they have a nice patio with a great view of the Rocky Mountains, my favorite pace to site - when it was clean. My biggest complaint is the patio furniture has become very dirty and greasy. They really need to DEGREASE THE PATIO chairs and tables once a week with car-wash soap and a good brushing. Inside, the tables are kept adequately clean. Clean the patio furniture and I give this place four stars. I have been a big fan of In-N-Out burgers for years. I was recently in California and upon a revisit I found it was not quite as good as my memory had built it up to be. For me, In-N-Out and Five Guys are very comparable, both serve a great fast food burger in their own way.

Fries to die for!!! Just like homemade. Burgers real tasty, though a bit greasy. Custom made burgers. View on the patio is awesome.

No restaurant makes me hate myself as much as Five Guys. I always go in happy, and with the best of intentions to not go overboard. The problem usually starts when I forget that their normal burger is actually a double patty, and I miss my opportunity to order the smaller burger. Then, I order fries. I've found that no matter how many people accompany me to Five Guys, one order of fries is all you need. Trust me on this. They pop your burger in the bag and then seem to just fill the rest of the bag with those fries. I try not to eat too much, but the burger is delicious, and the fries are all hand-cut and yummy, making it hard to stop eating even when I know I'll regret it later. I always leave there feeling greasy and with a belly full of self-loathing. Bottom line, the food is good, but almost not worth the regret you feel after stuffing your face. Consider that a warning, then go try them for yourself.

Not a huge fan of this place. 1. I think they're overpriced, though the food is good for the most part. 2. Atmosphere is too loud and industrial for my liking, and with respect for the price. 3. The burgers always run on the greasy side, and the fries...so so. But not a bad place

I wish In n Out was in CO..... This was my second time eating at Five Guys, I honestly DON'T like Five Guys. My drink, little hamburger and fries came out to be over 9 bucks. That's a lot of money to spend on fast food lunch. It wasn't even that good.... I know some people are die hard Five Guys fans, but I am a die hard In n Out fan. Parking there sucks too, there is construction there right now and such a small lot. This will be the last time I go to Five Guys

If you like a greasy burger and LOTS of fries, this place is a definite must. If you are counting calories, I wouldn't recommend walking in the door here. I go for a regular cheeseburger lettuce wrapped myself, it's so nice when a place easily accommodates no bun. I hate eating a burger with a fork, so wrapping in lettuce is the way to go. They do special prep for gluten free no problem, and pretty sure the fries are cooked by themselves so no cross contamination in the oil. The slightly higher cost then some places and the wait are why I didn't go for 5 stars here. It seems like they are always a bit behind on fry production holding up getting orders out. (And whoever thought that parking lot would be big enough for the number of food joints was nuts!!) Five guys is usually on my short list when I want a calorie splurge burger on the weekends.

Pros: Good burgers, really good plentiful fries, super cool soda machine with lots of flavor combinations, friendly people, awesome music, outdoor seating. I also like that you can pump your catsup into a cup rather than using packets. Eat peanuts while you wait. Cons: The menu is a bit deceiving. The regular burger is a giant double burger. Just get the small one for a regular sized burger. Also, it is a bit of a wait for the food and parking can be tight with all the new restaurants and construction in the area. It does seem a bit more expensive that I expect. Consensus: It's worth it! I'd rather pay a bit more for a delicious burger and fries(better than any drive thru in town). If you factor in not tipping like a couple other good burger places in town the prices are not out of line.

    (4)
  • Tammie B.

Everything is a la cart, so prices are relatively high when you add it all up, and you can not order water to drink, so you are forced to pay for a soda cup if you want something to drink. Pro: Way ton of fries per order...one order will feed at least 3 people. Con: Fries aren't very good. Cajun seasoning is overpowering if you order Cajun fries.

Burger, Customer Service, Tile Walls, Floors, and Bathroom ALL very SLOPPY! This is my second time to this location and I was forgiving on the first as it was during the lunch rush. Not this time. 4:35pm is well after lunch and still a bit before rush hour traffic unloaded off the roads for an evening meal. I watched my burger grow cold waiting for the fries to finish in the fryer line with 5 people behind the counter. When the fries were finished, one order at a time, my cold burger was covered beneath a volcanic mound of oily spud sticks in a brown paper bag. Not cool! I know this is a new location and all but I think some extra training is needed and attention to detail to the interior would be nice. Here's a tip, if your going to put red and white checker tiles on the walls, pay attention to the white tiles that collect dirt and soda spills. This meal was not worth $12.

This review is for their BLT. Shame on u Five Guys for putting something so poor on the menu. You should really take it off. I came in for a burger, but thought heck maybe ill try the BLT, poor decision. First of all u use a burger bun, then you add burnt bacon, and cheap cheese. What a sham. All this for $10, w fries and drink.

I took my family of 6 to try them out. The line was 30+ people and after about 15 minutes of standing in a tight line and only moving 1 or 2 places I had just about had enough. I could see the standard looking burgers being consumed by the already seated patrons and started adding up the prices. FAST FOOD STICKER SHOCK! I was about to spend $75.00 for fast food. NO WAY! We ordered pizza with all the fixings and desert, had it delivered and still saved money.

Good burgers. Not the best ever but if you have never tried a burger here it is a definite must.

Great for a low sodium option. They always overfill my bag with salt-free fries- a pregnant woman's dream. I get the little burger and it's big enough to satisfy my 3rd trimester cravings. Love all their toppings. Even the grilled cheese is over the top!

Doesn't matter if they are busy or not, it always takes 15-20 minutes for my burger(no fries). One time they did apologize for the wait, which is something, I guess. If the burger wasn't so damn good I wouldn't keep coming back, but it is, and I do.

We picked up dinner here one night not long after they opened -- wow, it was bad. The bread was soggy and the fries were undercooked. Considering how expensive it is for fast-food burgers, we expected better quality. Haven't been back, so maybe they have gotten better with time...
